Chemsex is a subculture that has emerged within the communities of gay and bisexual men and trans people. Chemsex refers to the intentional use of drugs for the purpose of having sex.

Chemsex Substances (Chems)
In Finland, the most used substances in chemsex appear to include amphetamine, methamphetamine, GHB and GBL, MDMA (ecstasy), cocaine, and ketamine. Poppers, erectile dysfunction medications, and alcohol are commonly combined with them.

Chemsex and First Aid
During chemsex and while under the influence of substances, accidents may occur more easily. When participants can trust that they will be taken care of in case of emergency and no one will be left alone, it’s easier to relax and enjoy yourself.
Downsides of Chemsex
Chemsex is not automatically problematic, but it involves risks and often powerful, potentially addictive substances. When chemsex begins to feel harmful is different for everyone. If that happens for you, you don’t have to navigate it on your own.
